In the first five months of this year, China’s home textile exports recovered comprehensively, with the export scale hitting a record high, and the exports of major provinces and cities all achieved substantial growth. International home textile market demand continues to be strong, our home textile products export to major international markets continue to maintain growth, among which the United States market export growth rate is the highest. The specific characteristics of China’s home textile export from January to May are as follows:

Exports hit a five-year high

From January to May, China’s export of home textile products reached US $12.62 billion, an increase of 60.4% over the same period last year and 21.8% over the same period in 2019. The export scale reached a historical high in the same period in the past five years. At the same time, the export of home textile products accounted for 11.2% of the total export of textile and garment products, 43 percentage points higher than the overall export growth of textile and garment, effectively driving the recovery of the overall export growth of the industry. Among them, the export of bedding products, carpets, towels, blankets and other major categories of products maintained a rapid growth rate of more than 50%, while the export growth rate of kitchen and table textiles was relatively stable, between 35% and 40%.

The United States led the international home textile market demand recovery

In the first five months, the export of home textile products to the world’s top 20 single country markets all maintained growth, among which the export to the US market grew the fastest, with the export value of US $4.15 billion, up 75.4% over the same period last year and 31.5% over the same period in 2019, accounting for 32.9% of the total export value of home textile products.

In addition, the export of home textile products to the EU also maintained a rapid growth, with the export value of US $1.63 billion, up 48.5% over the same period last year and 9.6% over the same period in 2019, accounting for 12.9% of the total export value of home textile products.

Exports of home textile products to Japan grew at a relatively stable rate of US $1.14 billion, up 15.4 percent from the same period last year and 7.5 percent from the same period in 2019, accounting for 9 percent of the total exports of home textile products.

From the perspective of regional market, exports to Latin America, ASEAN and North America grew faster, with an increase of 75-120%.

The export growth rate of the top five provinces and cities is above 50%

Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai and Guangdong ranked the top five provinces and cities in the export of home textile in China, with the export growth rate of more than 50%. The five provinces accounted for 82.5% of the total export of home textile in China, and the export provinces and cities were concentrated. Among other provinces and cities, Tianjin, Hubei, Chongqing, Shaanxi and other provinces and cities saw rapid export growth, with an increase rate of more than 1 times.
